Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the MIT Summer Research Program 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Academic Requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must be enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program at a U.S. institution
  • Eligible academic standing: sophomore, junior, or non-graduating senior
  • Must not graduate before December 2026

Citizenship Requirements

  • Open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and non-U.S. citizens with DACA
  • International students are eligible only if enrolled full-time at a U.S. college or university
  • Not eligible: students studying outside the U.S., exchange students, or those completing a bachelor’s degree abroad
