The AAUW International Fellowship 2026 is now open for applications. Funded by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), this prestigious fellowship is designed for women from outside the United States who want to pursue full-time graduate studies in the U.S.
Additionally, five fellowships are available to members of Graduate Women International (GWI) for studies in any country other than their own. The goal is to foster women’s academic development and promote gender equity worldwide.

Financial Coverage
Fellowship Amounts
- Master’s/Professional Degree: $20,000
- Doctoral Degree: $25,000
- Postdoctoral Research: $50,000
Expenses Covered
- Tuition and academic fees
- Living expenses
- Childcare for dependents
- Travel to professional conferences (up to 10% of the award)

Study Fields and Levels
Master’s Programs
Eligible degrees include:
- J.D., M.F.A., L.L.M., M.Arch., M.D., D.D.S., and similar programs
Note: Associate degrees, certificates, or undergraduate programs are not supported.
Doctoral Programs
- Focused on research degrees like Ph.D. or Ed.D.
Postdoctoral Research
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctorate in a research-based discipline
- Provide documentation of where the research will be conducted
Renewal Opportunity
Selected Master’s students in two-year programs may qualify for a second year of funding if they demonstrate outstanding academic performance in their first year.

Who Is Eligible?
Applicants must meet the following:
- Gender: Identify as a woman
- Citizenship: Not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Education: Hold a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s
- GPA: Minimum of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Enrollment:
- Must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited U.S. institution
- Or, be a GWI member enrolled in a non-native country
- Language Proficiency: Must demonstrate English proficiency
