Applications are open for the HKBU International Writers Workshop (IWW) 2026, a prestigious fully funded writers-in-residence program hosted by Hong Kong Baptist University. This four-week residency, running from March 2 to March 29, 2026, invites authors from around the world to engage in literary work, cultural exchange, and public storytelling.
Centered around the theme “Here and There,” the program concludes with a public Literary Festival, showcasing the voices of participating writers.

Program Theme: Here and There
The 2026 theme encourages exploration of identity, belonging, and cross-cultural storytelling. Writers will:
- Develop their personal writing projects
- Participate in public readings and workshops
- Present their work during the final Literary Festival
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to writers from any country
- Must have at least one published book
- Must currently reside outside of Hong Kong
- Proficiency in English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
- Must be available for the entire residency and final week festival
