Applications are now open for the HZB International Summer Program 2026, a fully funded 8-week opportunity for talented Bachelor’s and Master’s students from around the world. Hosted by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), this program offers hands-on research experience alongside leading scientists in cutting-edge scientific fields.
The HZB Summer Program 2026 will run from 6 July to 28 August 2026, giving students the chance to participate in real research projects, explore Berlin’s scientific culture, and network with international peers—all with full financial support.

Financial Benefits
The HZB International Summer Program provides generous financial coverage to ensure participants can focus fully on their research experience.
For Non-European Countries:
- Allowance (meals, accommodation, etc.): €1900
- Travel Grant: Up to €800
For European Countries:
- Allowance (meals, accommodation, etc.): €1000
- Travel Grant: Up to €200
Accommodation and residence costs are fully covered for all participants.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the HZB International Summer Program 2026, applicants must:
- Be enrolled as an undergraduate student in a relevant field such as Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Engineering, Structural Biology, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or Environmental Sciences.
- Have completed at least two years of full-time university studies.
- Possess strong English communication skills.
- Be available for the entire duration of the program (6 July – 28 August 2026).
- Provide a letter of recommendation from a professor or researcher familiar with their academic background.
- Be from any country (EU and non-EU students can apply).
Program Conditions
- Participation throughout the entire 8-week program is mandatory.
- Working hours: 40 hours per week.
- Participants will sign an internship contract and work on their assigned project under expert supervision.
